A guide, not advice. This explains how things generally work. A licensed insolvency practitioner will tell you what applies to your company or to you.
Can you be a director again after liquidation?
Yes - liquidation is not a ban, there is no waiting period, and no permission is needed: directors of liquidated companies form and run new companies every day, exactly as limited liability intends.
The two exceptions
Disqualification - imposed only where the conduct review found unfitness, which is the exception rather than the rule.
The name restrictions - five years of prohibition on the same or similar name, criminal and personally costly to breach, and the single trap that catches honest restarts.
Doing the restart properly
Buy any old-company assets through the liquidator at valuation, capitalise the new company to actually survive, and keep the new venture's dealings with the old one's creditors clean - the phoenix rules target patterns, not fresh starts.
What follows you, practically
Company liquidation doesn't appear on personal credit files, though lenders and some counterparties ask about failed directorships - and called guarantees or loan account settlements from the old company are personal matters that travel with you until resolved.
